When I was a first time mom, I truly did not know which products to add to my baby registry or what baby products I’d actually need. I basically added everything the registry builder told me to add, plus what friends and family told me I needed on my baby registry.

In this post, I’ve curated a list of 15 essential items that every new mom needs to add to her baby registry, spanning from practical necessities to comforting luxuries because let’s face it, those early days can be all about survival and if there are any baby registry items you can have on hand to make things easier, you’re going to be glad you have them!

Let’s dive into the world of baby care and discover the must-have baby registry items and products that will make the early days of having a new baby run a little smoother!

As a disclaimer: any product you do or do not decide to use with your baby is up to you and your pediatrician. These are simply what has worked for me, I never give medical or professional advice, and it’s up to you to do your own research and make your own decisions. I am not liable for any product you may or may not use.

Okay, with that out of the way, let’s dive into it!

Best Baby Products Every New Mom Needs on Her Baby Registry

1. Sleepers with Zippers

When it comes to dressing your little one, simplicity is key. Sleepers with zippers make late-night diaper changes a breeze, allowing you to navigate the process with ease and minimal disruption to your baby’s sleep. If they have 2-way zippers, that’s even better! Check out this adorable 2-pack on sale!

2. Bamboo Pajamas

Soft, breathable, and hypoallergenic, bamboo pajamas are a dream for both baby and mom. The gentle fabric ensures your little one stays comfortable, and it’s easy to care for amidst the inevitable spills and messes of early parenthood. These are my absolutely FAVORITES and the pattern is just adorable!

3. Bottle Warmer

For moms who choose to bottle-feed, a bottle warmer is a convenient addition to your arsenal. It quickly and evenly warms milk to the perfect temperature, making those nighttime feedings a little more seamless. This is the one I swear by and it’s even on sale right now!

4. Sanitizing Bags for Bottles, Pacis, and Pump Parts

Maintaining a clean and sanitized environment for your baby’s bottles is crucial. Believe me when I say I have tried every single combination and I finally landed on a very simple one: sanitizing bags and a drying rack. These are my favorite bags and this is the drying rack use. I use this to sanitize bottles, pump parts, pacis, teething toys, basically anything! Trust me, skip the expensive sanitizer and dryer and just keep it simple.

5. Sleep Sack

Create a cozy and secure sleeping environment for your little one with a top quality sleep sack. This is a wearable blanket keeps your baby warm without the hazards of loose blankets in the crib, promoting safe and comfortable sleep. You can also opt for swaddles, but I decided not to use those much with my second (another post for another day) and opted for a sleep sack instead. This is one of my favorites I’ve used with both kids and it’s more reasonably priced than most!

6. Hello Bello Diapers

Soft, absorbent, and eco-friendly, Hello Bello diapers are a go-to choice for many new moms. Free from harmful chemicals, these diapers prioritize your baby’s comfort while being kind to the environment. Both of my babies have done very well with these diapers and they stand up well against the competitors with much cuter patterns and fewer toxins on my baby’s precious skin. Get $15 off your first order on me with this link!

7. High Quality Organic Formula

For moms who choose or need to supplement breastfeeding, this formula is a wholesome, organic, and carefully crafted option. It provides essential nutrients for your baby’s growth and development and does not contain corn syrup or other junk most conventional formulas contain.

Even if you plan to exclusively breastfeed, it’s a great idea to have a high quality formula on hand, just in case. When I had to supplement with my baby, I was so glad to have this because it truly was one of the only ones that did not give him horrible reflux and gas! Plus they have a sensitive option as well. You can try a FREE can on me with this special link for my readers!

8. Dr. Brown’s Bottles

Known for their innovative design, Dr. Brown’s bottles help reduce colic, spit-up, and gas in babies. The vent system minimizes air intake, promoting a more comfortable feeding experience for your little one. Believe me when I say we tried a LOT of bottles and these were the only ones that we stuck with. Both of my babies have done amazingly with these bottles!

9. Bassinet

A cozy bassinet is a versatile and practical sleeping solution for your newborn. Placed beside your bed, it offers easy access during nighttime feedings and keeps your baby close for added comfort and reassurance. I really love this one because it allows you to stick your hand in the bassinet to comfort baby while laying next to them.

10. Baby Swing

This is one thing that really helped us out the early days with both babies. Infants often find comfort in gentle rocking motions, and this swing provides just that. This high-tech baby swing mimics the natural movements parents make when soothing their babies, offering a variety of motions and sounds to calm and entertain your little one. Let’s just say when nothing else worked… this did! I know not every baby will love every swing, but this swing was worth it for us!

11. Nursing Pillow

If you plan on breastfeeding, this pillow will make sessions much more comfortable! Forget the Boppy, that is honestly not helpful for breastfeeding but can be good for other things. The supportive cushions on this pillow help position your baby at the right height, reducing strain on your back and arms during feeding times. Even the lactation consultants in the hospital recommended this to me! Grab my favorite breastfeeding pillow here!

12. Giant Water Cup

Staying hydrated is essential for all new moms, but especially those who are breastfeeding. Investing in a giant water cup that you can keep by your side day and night is crucial! I love a good old Stanley like the rest of them but if you’re looking for a dupe, this one is amazing too!

13. Sound Machine

Creating a soothing sleep environment for your baby is essential to good sleep… and who doesn’t want that? Whether it’s white noise, lullabies, or gentle nature sounds, these machines can help drown out household noises and promote restful sleep. We started using this one because it also serves as a nightlight and baby and toddler can learn to associate certain colors with sleep and wake cues. This is our absolute favorite and we use it with both kiddos!

14. Hands-Free Pump

You will likely get a lot of mixed information on this topic and ultimately the choice is yours… but having a hands-free pump saved my second breastfeeding journey! I was having to do extra pumping to increase my supply and with a newborn and very active 4 year old, I could not be tied to a wall all the time. Buying this pump prevented me from throwing in the towel on my struggling milk supply. It allows you to multitask while pumping, giving you the freedom to tend to other responsibilities or simply relax. It was such a relief for me to be able to wash bottles, fold clothes, or just walk around the house while pumping. This pump changed everything for me!

15. Wearable Baby Wrap

Keeping your baby close during those early days but still being able to move and walk is a game changer! This soft and stretchy baby carrier offers a snug and secure way to carry your little one, fostering a sense of closeness and bonding. My little ones loved being worn those first several weeks and this wrap was our favorite!
