For most moms, finding the balance between a fulfilling career and taking care of our families is no easy task. I have found myself Googling, “the best work from home jobs for moms,” more times than I can actually count. Many moms are looking for work from home opportunities in order to provide for their family and contribute financially while still being home more with their kids. This is especially appealing if the job allows for passive or semi-passive income.
Whether you’re navigating the early stages of motherhood or juggling the demands of a growing family, the desire for work that fits seamlessly into the home environment is more prevalent than ever. In this blog post, we’ll explore the best work-from-home opportunities for moms, providing a roadmap to making income while maintaining the flexibility needed to cherish all the precious moments with your kids.
My Top 8 Remote Jobs for Moms
Whether you are a stay at home mom or a mom who needs extra income, there are tons of options out there. Let’s dive into some of the best work-from-home jobs for moms!
1. Virtual Assistant (VA)
Many businesses and entrepreneurs seek virtual assistants to help manage tasks such as email correspondence, scheduling, and social media management. VAs can do a wide variety of tasks or even specialize and only focus on social media, Pinterest management, etc. I know many moms who do this part time and they love the flexibility it provides.
2. Digital Products
Creating and selling your own digital products is a great way for moms to earn semi-passive income on a flexible schedule. I personally sell digital products and this has become one of my favorite ways to earn extra money without constantly needing to put in more work. You create a product using PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe Illustrator, etc. Then list it for sale on a platform such as Etsy, Teachers Pay Teachers (if you have an education background), your own website, or even your social media link in bio.
Then you just have to drive traffic to it. Driving traffic is the hardest part but with the right products and systems in place, this can be an excellent way to earn mostly passive income. It’s a lot of work up front, but more passive as time goes on. This is my #1 favorite way to earn extra money as a mom. #8 is my other favorite!
3. Online Tutoring
For moms or teachers with expertise in a particular subject, online tutoring is a rewarding option. Platforms like Chegg Tutors, Tutor.com, Preply, Outschool, or VIPKid connect tutors with students globally. This flexible opportunity enables you to set your availability and teach from the convenience of your home. As a certified teacher, I have personally taught with multiple online teaching or tutoring companies and found this to be a good source of flexible income when I needed it.
My only caution is that you do need some part time child care to do this. Or your kids need to be old enough to entertain themselves while you tutor. Having a quiet dedicated space is important for this remote role.
4. E-commerce and Online Selling
If you enjoy crafting, platforms like Etsy provide a marketplace to sell handmade items. Whether it’s personalized baby accessories or unique home decor, turning your crafting hobby into an online business offers both creativity and income.
For those interested in e-commerce but without the hassle of inventory management, dropshipping is a viable option. Set up an online store through platforms like Shopify or even use Printful or Printify and link them to your store. You design the products and when a product is sold, the supplier ships it directly to the customer. This minimizes upfront costs and allows you to focus on marketing and customer service. I personally did this for a season and it was fun to design shirts and other apparel without having to physically print them in my home.

5. Writing and Content Creation
For moms with a flair for words, freelance writing is a lucrative option. Platforms like Upwork, Freelancer, and Fiverr connect writers with businesses seeking content for websites, blogs, and marketing materials. This flexible gig allows you to set your own schedule and work on projects that match your interests. You may also search through well-known blogs and see if they have opportunities for guest writers. This is a great way to get paid to write without the commitment to full time writing or blogging.
6. Online Courses and Coaching
If you excel in a particular skill or have valuable knowledge to share, creating and selling online courses is an excellent avenue. There are many platforms from free to very expensive to showcase your courses, offering flexibility as you create content on your schedule. With Beacons you can create 1 course for FREE and easily link it in your social media bio for your audience without establishing a website. This is a great way to try course creation without investing a ton of money up front.
Many course creators also add a coaching aspect to their program so that once someone purchases your course, they have an option to pay a monthly membership and can receive continued 1-1 or small group support from you in whatever area of expertise you are providing. This is a great way to continue earning residual income after someone buys your course. It’s also a great way to establish long term relationships with customers if this interests you.
7. Remote Healthcare Opportunities
For moms with a background in healthcare, telehealth and remote medical transcription services provide opportunities to work from home. Companies like Teladoc offer positions for healthcare professionals seeking a flexible and remote work environment. You may also consider getting certified to do medical coding as this is a growing remote field.
8. Amazon Reviews

Time to Get Started
Hopefully you found this list of work from home jobs for moms inspiring and it gave you some ideas to get started. I know firsthand how stressful it can be to need extra money but not want to leave your family and get a job (or a second job) outside the home.
So many moms are seeking flexibility and income and in today’s world, it’s amazing that we can actually have both! It may require a little creativity, trying something new, or stepping outside your comfort zone, but whatever you decide to do, I hope and pray it’s a great fit for your family! I have personally tried several of these and my only regret was not starting sooner.
