Let’s be real—when it comes to Halloween treats, I am always looking for easy ones for kids because my oldest loves helping in the kitchen. Plus, if a recipe takes more than 10 minutes or leaves my kitchen looking like a scene from a horror movie, I’m out!
My oldest loves making festive treats and as the “ber” months have barely begun, he is already asking me when we can make some Halloween treats. He’s a messy little guy, but he sure loves to bake and help in the kitchen, so I am always on the lookout for easy Halloween treats for kids this time of year.

Directions for this Easy Halloween Treat for Kids
1. Start with the Glazed Donuts
First, grab your glazed donuts, which will be the base of your spider. I love using plain glazed donuts because they’re easy to find at any grocery store, and the smooth surface is perfect for building our spiders on. If the glaze is a little messy or uneven, don’t worry—that just adds to the spooky charm!
2. Add the Donut Hole Body
Place a chocolate donut hole right in the center of your glazed donut. This will serve as the spider’s body. To make sure it stays put, you can use a dab of melted chocolate to “glue” it to the center. Just a small drop is enough to secure it.
3. Create the Spider Legs with Melted Chocolate
Next, it’s time for the legs! We’re using melted chocolate to pipe on the legs, and honestly, I think this makes the spiders look even cooler.
Melt your chocolate (either in the microwave or on the stovetop). Once it’s smooth, pour it into an icing piping bag or a plastic sandwich bag. If using the sandwich bag, just snip a tiny corner off to make a hole for piping.
Gently pipe four chocolate legs on each side of the donut, starting from the base of the donut hole and extending outward onto the glazed donut. Try to give the legs a slight curve, so they look like real spider legs.
Let the chocolate set for a few minutes. If you want to speed up the process, pop the donuts in the fridge for 10-15 minutes.
4. Add the Eyes
Now, it’s time to bring your spider to life with candy eyes! Dab a little melted chocolate on the back of each candy eye and stick them to the chocolate donut hole “body.” You can go classic with two eyes or add as many as you like for a creepier effect. My kids think the more eyes, the better!
And Voilà—Your Spider Donuts Are Ready!
That’s it! In just a few minutes, you’ve got yourself a tray of adorable (and slightly spooky) spider donuts. These are perfect for Halloween parties, after-school snacks, or just a fun weekend activity with the kids. Best of all, no baking, no fuss, and you’re left with minimal cleanup.
Final Verdict on This Easy Halloween Treat
Making fun Halloween treats with your kids doesn’t have to be stressful or time-consuming. These spider donuts are proof that you can create something fun and festive without spending hours in the kitchen or making a giant mess. So go ahead, grab your donuts, and get ready to make some spooky snacks that’ll have your kids smiling from ear to ear. My son gave these two chocolate-y thumbs up!
